Directing

 

Students are taught the art of visual storytelling, and directing the camera and actor. They progress from simple Year One exercises that stress the fundamentals of cinema language to their first directorial effort, a five-minute digital video production. Two more video productions are directed in the second year, with an increased emphasis on interpreting the screenplay through camera and performance. Students specializing in directing will become well-versed in preparing the director's script, directing comedy and drama, and honing their collaborative skills with the various artists who work to realize the director's vision.
