Editing and Sound
From their arrival at the School of Filmmaking, students are introduced to the critical role editing and sound play in the creative process of making movies. First and second year students edit their HD projects on their personal Apple Laptops using Adobe Premiere CC. Third and fourth year students shoot on the Alexa, RED and 16mm film. They edit on AVID Media Composer. Students use ProTools HD to edit dialogue, ADR, music and sound effects. The School of Filmmaking has its own ADR/Foley stage. Third and fourth-year students do a final dialogue, music and sound effects mix on the Film Scoring Stage using ProTools HD. Full orchestral scores may also be recorded using musicians from the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra. These and other original scores are written by graduate students in our Film Music Composition Master’s program.
